Finance Coordinator - Part Time (Fixed Term)


We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Finance Coordinator to liaise and support financial administration in the Leverhulme Centre for Life in the University, and across multiple departments and finance administration services within the University of Cambridge.

This is a new role contributing to the financial administrations in a highly trained, efficient and flexible manner to the centre manager and PI's affiliated with the Centre. The post holder will be based in Physics, and will work with staff and postgraduate students across multiple departments and disciplines at the University, including the Departments of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Earth Sciences, Zoology, History and Philosophy of Science, the Institute of Astronomy, the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Divinity, and the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, with partnerships with the University of Colorado Boulder (USA), University College London, ETH Zurich (Switzerland), Harvard University (USA), and the Centre of Theological Inquiry (USA).

Working closely with the centre manager, this role has a wide range of responsibilities including supporting all financial aspects of the day-to-day operation of multiple projects. The role holder will liaise with the Physics Accounts Team and the Research Office Grants team to resolve queries and issues in a timely manner and ensure that funds are applied according to the University's financial regulations and procedures.

Part of the role will provide specialised support for research grant of PIs working on the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project to efficiently coordinate the regular reporting and finance projections needed to meet enhanced UK SKA Project Office and STFC requirements. This will include compiling updates for STFC Oversight Committee meetings, assisting with ongoing grant finance tasks and taking a lead on costings needed for developing future applications.

Candidates must be proficient in using IT and financial administration systems and software. Familiarity with the University Finance Systems would be an advantage. Previous administrative and accounting experience would be required.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
