Pensions Administrator


The Pensions Administration Team looks after over 10,000 pension scheme members across four defined benefit pension schemes and we currently have a vacancy for a Pensions Administrator.

The successful candidate will deal with all aspects of pensions administration, working as part of a team of twelve. The role is busy and varied, including administration and payroll with the opportunity to be involved with other annual processes and one-off exercises as and when required.

The role would suit someone who wishes to develop their pensions administration skills or an experienced general administrator looking to specialise and learn a new area of expertise. The role is full-time but applications from those wishing to work part-time would be welcome.

The Role

The Administration team is extremely busy and deals with all tasks associated with the pension schemes, including new joiners, leavers, transfers, retirements, deaths and the running of four pensioner payrolls. The team also deal with annual tasks for each of the schemes, in particular, each scheme year-end, as well as dealing with general pension queries, which may come by email, telephone or letter. The team liaise with other pension professionals who assist with the pension scheme administration, namely, the scheme Actuaries, Legal Advisers and Auditors. The aim of the team is to complete all tasks within the Service Level Agreements which are laid down by the scheme Trustees.

Your Skills

The role requires the following skills and experience.

  • Experience of pensions administration, ideally in a defined benefit (DB) environment is desirable but not essential
  • Payroll experience would also be desirable but not essential
  • Experience in a general administrative role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good numeracy skills coupled with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office
  • An excellent team player

Location

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows.

The Finance Division has embraced hybrid working and is currently trialling in-person working within teams two days a week from Greenwich House and three days worked remotely pro-rata. This arrangement is temporary whilst we are actively taking on board feedback from our colleagues.

Funding for this post is permanent.
