Postdoctoral Research Associate (Fixed Term)
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP). This follows the award of an ARIA Scoping Our Planet Opportunity Seed grant to PI Dr Laura Cimoli (DAMTP), and Co-Is Dr Alexander Brearley and Prof Katharine Hendry (British Antarctic Survey) and Prof Karen Heywood (University of East Anglia).
The Bellingshausen Sea in West Antarctica is a crucial pathway for glacial meltwater from the rapidly melting West Antarctic Peninsula. This position will focus on quantifying pathways and rates of glacial meltwater transport in the Bellingshausen Sea through analysis of observations collected by underwater gliders and profiling floats. The position will be based at the University of Cambridge, with close collaborations with BAS and UEA.
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD (or soon to be awarded) in a relevant area and will have experience of working with physical oceanographic data. Experience in underwater glider data handling and/or biogeochemical data processing is desirable but not essential.
We welcome applications from candidates able to take up this position as early as March 2025 and no later than October 2025.
