Senior HPC and AI Infrastructure Engineer


Are you interested in an exciting and unique opportunity to support the UK's HPC and AI Research Services? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team operating large HPC and AI infrastructure including the UK's fastest AI supercomputer, Dawn. We support scientists across the UK and beyond in critical research fields such as clean energy, personalised medicine and climate science and you will help us in delivering world class services.

Who you'll be working with

The role is based in the University of Cambridge's Research Computing Services, a leading UK National Supercomputing Centre, providing facilities and services to world-renowned scientists, clinicians and engineers across the UK and Europe. You'll be part of a growing team of AI specialist, Research Software Engineers and Systems Engineers, working with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple disciplines and institutions.

What you will do

You'll be working on a diverse range of AI and HPC platforms and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for architecting, integrating and maintaining software defined infrastructure as well as novel user and software environment interfaces. You will be operating large scale, highly available supercomputing services. You will be collaborating with world leading academic research teams, and researchers in the public and the commercial sector to deliver on their project goals.

What you will have

-Practical experience in tools such as Git, Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes.

-Proficiency in Linux System Administration.

-Practical experience with programming and scripting languages such as Bash and Python.

-Domain knowledge in one or more areas from SysOps, DevOps, GitOps, OpenStack, HPC and Software Engineering.

-Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with experienced as well as novice clients and stakeholders.

-Ability to provide expert guidance on best practices and procedures and mentor junior staff members.

-Bachelor's or higher degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent experience.
