Communications Coordinator (Part-time)

Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy, University of Cambridge

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Communications Coordinator to manage the Department's digital presence, and promote our world-class research and teaching activities. This role is integral to enhancing the Department's visibility and reputation, both within and outside the University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Department's main website, intranet, social media, and communication channels. Support research teams and research facilities website

  • Promote the Department's research via press releases, blogs, and social media. In collaboration with others, develop science stories and articles showcasing the impact of our research.

  • Collaborate with the Outreach committee to support public engagement and outreach activities. Organise meetings and school engagement initiatives, ensuring financial funding and H&S risk assessment are in place. Gather and analyse feedback from events to inform future planning.

  • In collaboration with the senior leadership team, implement a communications strategy to enhance Department visibility.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will demonstrate strong organizational abilities and expertise in science communication, web content management, and event planning. The successful candidate will possess skills in graphic design, social media, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and various tools designed for editing, organizing, and managing digital content.
