Salary: £30,805 - £35,116 (pro-rata)
We are seeking to appoint a motivated Study/Trial coordinator to work in the Primary Care Unit (PCU) of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care (DPHPC) on a Cancer Research UK funded research programme focused on how to optimise implementation of breast cancer risk assessment into the NHS for women under age 50. The programme is a collaborative mixed-methods project involving the Universities of Cambridge and Manchester.
The post-holder will be a key member of the PREVENT-breast study team. They will work specifically on a planned pilot study and subsequent cluster-randomised trial of proactive risk assessment within primary care. These build on current co-design work with members of the public and key professional stakeholders, with the aim of improving equitable uptake to breast cancer risk assessment. The post-holder will coordinate all aspects of the pilot study and trial. This will involve all aspects of central trial coordination from site set up, data management, study monitoring, recruitment, study close out and archiving. On a day-to-day basis, the role will include the recruitment and management of sites/patients, data monitoring and entry, and liaison with other members of the research team (including clinical/academic collaborators). The post holder will also be required to perform participant risk assessments using the CanRisk tool and support data extraction and analysis. The successful candidate will be educated to least HND/HNC level (Level 4/5 qualification) or have equivalent practical experience. Experience working in an academic or clinical environment, preferably within the NHS, is essential. The role requires excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to use initiative and work effectively as part of a team. Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required. The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running.
The funding for this post is available until 31 December 2026. The post is for up to 60% FTE for the first six months during set up of the studies, increasing to up to 100% FTE for the remainder of the post
The role is based at Strangeways Research Laboratory, Worts Causeway, Cambridge, CB1 8RN (approximately 2 miles south of the city centre). We are committed to flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options combining remote and on-site work, and are open to accommodating individual circumstances where possible.
