Senior Organisational Development Consultant - Internal Applicants Only

The University has embarked on an exciting transformation journey to enhance our professional services and develop new systems, tools, and ways of working to support both our staff and the wider academic community.
Reporting to the Head of Organisational Development, the Senior Organisational Development Consultant will play a critical role in leading the design and implementation of a Career Development Framework for Professional Services, impacting over 7,000 staff. This role is available from 1st July 2025 and is a unique opportunity to lead a strategic change initiative that will shape the future of professional services within the University.
Funding for this post is available for a fixed period until 31 January 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, design, and deliver a Career Development Framework for Professional Services, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic goals;
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior management, professional services staff, and academic leadership, to develop a framework that meets the needs of the University;
- Manage complex change initiatives, using best-practice change management and engagement approaches to support implementation;
- Facilitate workshops, forums, and events to engage staff and stakeholders in the development of career pathways;
- Develop business cases demonstrating financial and non-financial benefits of the proposed framework;
- Liaise with Trade Unions through relevant governance structures to ensure buy-in and successful implementation;
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of the framework, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with organisational goals.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and strategic professional with:
- Proven experience in leading the development of career frameworks, job families, and competency models in a large, complex environment. Experience of designing and implementing job families and career pathways would be advantageous;
- A strong track record of delivering strategic people change initiatives, influencing senior stakeholders, and managing large-scale transformation projects;
- Expertise in change management and organisational development methodologies;
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships, negotiate, and influence at all levels;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear recommendations;
- Experience working with Trade Unions and governance structures in a collaborative and constructive manner;
- A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) and professional membership of CIPD (or equivalent), with a commitment to continuous professional development.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
The post is offered to internal candidates only on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.
