Research Assistant (Part Time, Fixed Term)

Are you interested in spatial omics technologies and organoid model systems, and their power in unravelling the mechanisms and dynamics of cancer progression? Applications are invited for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to work with Dr John Lizhe Zhuang and Prof Rebecca Fitzgerald at the Early Cancer Institute, University of Cambridge.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a cutting-edge research group at the University of Cambridge. The Fitzgerald group is passionate about finding innovative ways to detect and understand cancer from the earliest stages, with a particular focus on oesophageal and gastric cancer. Our team leverages well-annotated clinical sample cohorts and a comprehensive research infrastructure to study precursor lesions in oesophageal adenocarcinoma and hereditary diffuse gastric cancer (HDGC). HDGC is a genetic syndrome, typically due to a mutation in CDH1 gene, which increases the risk for gastric cancer. Using patient-derived organoid models and spatial omics technologies, we aim to unravel the heterogeneity and evolutionary dynamics of cancer precursors and early-stage malignancies.
